This is a 400 ft climb that really did not take very long. The trail was well traveled so easy to follow.
There was only a couple of sections where the trail was steep.
The hike around the outer perimeter of the mesa was beautiful. This is one big mesa.
It takes quite a while to walk around the outside, but so very worth it. The 360 degree views are amazing.
The mesa is large and trails allow you to get right on the edge.
While we were on the back side of this mountain, we see a helicopters high in the distance. Brad wishes for one to come low along the ridge. As we gaze out over the edge we hear a helicopter approaching. We wave our arms and he gets very close, so close that we see the people in the back waving back at us. Wow, how exciting.
We even find a heart rock, stuck into a tree on the ridges edge.
The second hike was Soldiers Pass. We head out in the afternoon. The sun lower in the sky now, reflects off the canyon walls. The red rock walls surrounding Sedona are quickly becoming familiar.
We hike along the trail past Devil's kitchen, this we learn is an active sink hole. I don't know, looked pretty in-active to me. The next highlight was the seven sacred pools. No water in these pools, just a series of rock ledges would had missed them if not for the man in the black hat with the six shooter strapped to his leg telling a group from a jeep tour. Another great day of hiking!
